Utica Lady Knicks
The Utica Lady Knicks was formed under the auspices of the Amateur Athletic Association or AAU. AAU identifies the purpose of the girls basketball program as that of initializing, stimulating and improving the opportunities for amateur girls competition at both the local and national level. Such competition, they say, promotes and develops leadership, sportsmanship, educational opportunities and athletic excellence. We have taken that charge to heart and look to fulfill that purpose. In order to do that we: 1. Conduct open tryouts for young players giving them the opportunity to take a meaningful learning step in and through basketball. 2. Provide quality coaching to promote learning experiences in the areas of leadership, sportsmanship, teamwork and technical basketball skills. 3. Travel to Tournaments that are well run and appropriate to the skill levels of our teams providing a positive learning experience in a positive environment. 4. Maintiann a low a cost to our participants so as to encourage and make possible participaton to as many in our community as possible. 5. Provide a low cost opportunity for our oldest group to compete at the highest level in an environment that exposes them to the collegiate programs in Division I through Division III. 6. Conduct a top quality tournament in the Utica area that creates a sense of community and pride. The tournament helps to grow our basketball family, in particular, and provides our girls with an opportunity to play in their home area. Finally, it also allows us the opportunity to maintain a low cost/high opportunity program for our girls. The benefits can only be achieved if our players, coaches, organization members and parents each embrace their responsibilities to the program. Among those responsibilities are:

•To become a better technical player
•To become a better teammate/team player
•To become a better leader on and off the court
•To meet new people and grow friendships
